Workday Ninja launches Willy the Workflow Wizard

It's a tool designed to create customized automation guides for business owners, empowering them to seamlessly integrate AI and optimize their operations.

In response to the ongoing challenges businesses face with artificial intelligence (AI) and automation adoption, Tennessee-based tech company Workday Ninja has launched Willy the Workflow Wizard. It’s the latest offering from the wife and husband team of Alane Boyd and Micah Johnson who call Cookeville home after relocating from San Diego to the Upper Cumberland region in 2013.

This new AI tool arrives at a pivotal moment, with 46 percent of U.S. businesses expressing interest in AI, according to the 2024 Business Leaders Outlook by J.P. Morgan, amidst concerns over inflation and revenue. Willy the Workflow Wizard is designed to create customized automation guides for business owners through a straightforward questionnaire, empowering them to seamlessly integrate AI and optimize their operations.

“I often see businesses eager to leverage AI and automation to enhance their systems, but they aren’t sure where to get started. Willy the Workflow Wizard fills this gap by offering accessible solutions to boost productivity and drive growth,” explains Boyd, Co-Founder of Workday Ninja.

She adds that, in less than two minutes, the tool generates up to 25 automation guides tailored to the specific workflows and software systems of each business. By implementing even just one of these automated workflow recommendations, businesses can save hours of work per month and reduce errors across their organization. More than 120 businesses have already benefited from Willy the Workflow Wizard’s automation guides.

“One business owner that we worked with was able to save 40 hours of work per month for just one employee,” Johnson noted. “Now they are able to focus on strategy and client fulfillment, increasing the value that employees provide for the company. These types of changes across an organization are extremely impactful.”

Looking ahead, Boyd and Johnson are optimistic about AI’s future growth and its potential to address revenue growth, hiring, and capital concerns among small and midsized companies. Legislative developments like Tennessee’s ELVIS law and initiatives to foster tech hubs further offer a fertile ground for this innovation.

“Many businesses are uncertain about how to begin AI and automation journey. Willy the Workflow Wizard serves as a catalyst, empowering businesses to build stronger, more resilient operations,” Boyd emphasizes.

She is a serial entrepreneur we first met when Boyd was a participant in the 2020 edition of the “AgLaunch Bootcamp,” now rebranded as “Cultivate Appalachia.” The company that she took through the program was named BurgerFit. We subsequently learned that Boyd and her husband also had several other tech-based companies including Arvo that we spotlighted in this March 2022 teknovation.biz article. The latter company was an outgrowth of the couple’s work through BGBO Co, a business consulting organization they co-founded a few years ago before rebranding it as Workday Ninja.

In 2023, the renamed company, along with the software platform Arvo, received Community Partner Program funding from Launch Tennessee, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that supports entrepreneurship and economic development in Tennessee, to educate business owners on utilizing AI and automation in their organizations. Willy the Workflow Wizard is the next step in helping businesses expand their knowledge on where automation can be utilized.
