VW opening regional headquarters in Chattanooga
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that Volkswagen plans to open a North American regional headquarters in Chattanooga for operations such as engineering, manufacturing, purchasing and quality.
According to the article, Johan de Nysschen, Chief Operating Officer of Volkswagen Group’s North American Region, has already bought a home within about 10 minutes of the plant. The facility is expected to house about 40 employees.
In January 2020 just ahead of the COVID-19 pandemic, Volkswagen Group of America, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee (UT) announced a collaboration to create Volkswagen’s first innovation hub in North America at the UT Research Park at Cherokee Farm.
