Virginia Beach hosting preliminary competition ahead of the Startup World Cup
The event is set for August 28. Applications now being accepted.
Innovate Hampton Roads, in partnership with the City of Virginia Beach, has announced that it will host the Virginia Regional of the Startup World Cup on August 28 at Zeiders American Dream Theater in Virginia Beach.
This marks the first time the prestigious Startup World Cup series will include Virginia, setting the stage for local start-ups to showcase their innovative prowess on a global platform. The international event, hosted by Pegasus Tech Ventures, is set for October 4 at the Hilton Union Square in San Francisco, CA.
The event is a pivotal moment for Innovate Hampton Roads and a significant milestone for the region as it embraces its role in the expanding global innovation ecosystem. By hosting this event, Virginia Beach positions itself as a critical hub for start-ups across the state and beyond, eager to tap into the vast networks that the Startup World Cup provides.
Open to all start-ups across Virginia, the event encourages wide participation and promises attendees an evening of networking, pitch competitions, and insights into the world of global start-up ecosystems. The winner of the regional competition will represent Virginia at the Startup World Cup Grand Finale, competing for a $1 million investment prize.
The regional event is limited to 100 start-ups; there isn’t a specific vertical, and start-ups can range from pre-seed to Series A companies. Founders and Chief Executive Officers interested in becoming contestants for the $1,000,000 investment prize can enter an application at this link.
Virginia Beach is among as many as 75 cities around the world hosting preliminary events. Other Southeastern cities include Baton Rouge, LA and Birmingham, AL.
