Vanderbilt-connected HeroWear one of 22 start-ups spotlighted at national event
HeroWear, a Vanderbilt University-related start-up, was one of 22 new ventures that were spotlighted at last week’s “University Innovation and Entrepreneurship Showcase.”
Hosted virtually by the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities and the Association of American Universities, the third annual event spotlighted companies from across the nation that have created products and services using federally funded, university-based research.
The Nashville-based company’s first product is the HeroWear Apex (pictured at right), the first exosuit built from the ground up for both men and women. It is designed to reduce strain on the back while fitting like a comfortable piece of clothing. It features a patent-pending, dual-mode technology to make it easy to turn the back assistance on or off, allowing it to be used in nearly any work situation.
