UT student start-up wins “People’s Choice Award” at Farm Bureau competition
A three-person team of University of Tennessee students – two from the Knoxville campus and one from Martin – won the “People’s Choice Award” at the recent American Farm Bureau “Rural Entrepreneurship Challenge.” The start-up that goes by the name of FarmSpec, short for Farm Specific Technology, received a total of $25,000 for their patent-pending technology that claims to more effectively terminate cover crops, therefore saving farmers money.
