Three agencies account for nearly 88 percent of federal support for science and engineering
Here’s a factoid that those with interests around federally-funded research can toss-out at a cocktail reception, that is if we ever have them again!
The State Science and Technology Institute reports that three agencies accounted for the vast majority of support for the science and engineering activities at the nation’s institutions of higher education. In fact, based on data from 2019 – the most currently available, 87.6 percent or $33.4 billion of that federal support came from the Department of Health and Human Services, National Science Foundation, and Department of Defense.
