St. Elizabeth Healthcare, NKU partner to launch SoCap Accelerate
St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Covington, KY and Northern Kentucky University (NKU) are teaming-up to launch a start-up accelerator to foster young companies that can address some of the region’s biggest health needs.
According to this article from Cincy Inno, the first cohort of SoCap Accelerate will begin in mid-October and graduate just prior to Thanksgiving. Partners in the effort include the law firm of Frost Brown Todd, crowdfunding platform Wunderfund, creative development firm Canned Spinach, and accounting firm Rudler PSC.
“Our No. 1 goal is to sell the region,” Rico Grant, Executive Director, said. “We’re not looking to invest in companies, we’re looking to grow companies in the region.”
In addition to this effort, Covington has also christened a one-block area in the city “Innovation Alley,” and NKU has announced plans to open NKY-HUB, a one-stop, shared services, entrepreneurship nerve center in the area.
