Fresh off its participation in the recent “The Works” accelerator, Knoxville start-up SmartRIA will be one of 12 companies selected to pitch this Thursday in Milwaukee during the “FinTech Venture Day 2017” sponsored by Golden Angels Investors.
SmartRIA and the other 11 presenters were selected from hundreds of applications received from fintech start-ups around the world.
“SmartRIA has been working very hard the past two years to prepare for rapid growth,” Mac Bartine, Chief Executive Officer, said. “Being selected for ‘FinTech Venture Day’ is a significant validation that we are on the right track.”
As noted in this recent teknovation.biz article, SmartRIA was launched in 2011 by Roger Kiger, a Certified Financial Planner and Founder of Visionary Horizons Wealth Management. He had packaged 20 years of experience into a product to automate compliance requirements faced by small, independent investment firms or even individual advisors.
Bartine joined the team in 2015, and the company has grown from no paying customers to having its sights on reaching $1 million in recurring revenue soon.
According to the website for “FinTech Venture Day 2017,” innovation leaders and executives from 13 corporations reviewed the applications and made the selection of the finalists.
Each of the 12 companies will make a 15-minute presentation followed by questions and answers. In addition, Golden Angels will provide both meeting space and scheduled time for Bartine and the other presenters to meet individually with interested investors.
Golden Angels is a Milwaukee-based organization with more than 150 members. Founded in 2002, it has invested about $20 million thus far. According to the organization’s website, Golden Angels is not a fund; its members make individual investment decisions.
