Jeremy Floyd, Chief Communications Officer and Vice President of Marketing at Covenant Health, was recently named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2024 list of “78 Hospital and Health System Chief Marketing Officers to Know.”

From Knoxville:

Jeremy Floyd, Chief Communications Officer and Vice President of Marketing at Covenant Health, was recently named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2024 list of “78 Hospital and Health System Chief Marketing Officers to Know.” He was one of three Chief Marketing Officers recognized in Tennessee.

Becker’s Hospital Review, a publication focusing on hospital business news for healthcare executives, highlighted leaders who “are the forces behind powerful marketing and communications efforts, shaping how their organizations are viewed and experienced.” Becker’s evaluated factors such as brand building, data-driven campaigns, and customer relationship strategies when compiling its list.

Floyd oversees the health system’s marketing and public relations departments, as well as its fitness center and emergency medical services teams. As Vice President of Marketing, he leads marketing and public relations strategies, systemwide branding, content creation, service line campaigns, and community partnerships. Floyd also serves on several health system committees that focus on initiatives such as innovation and patient experience.

Floyd holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree with a concentration in business transactions from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville College of Law. He received his bachelor’s degree in English and philosophy from Middle Tennessee State University.

Two more from Knoxville:

Winona State University (WSU) in Minnesota will partner with the Knoxville-based Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) to support advanced composites manufacturing training that aligns with the needs of the regional industry and supports the U.S. Department of Defense Industrial Base Analysis and Sustainment program.

According to an article in the Winona Post, the groundbreaking new partnership with IACMI designates Winona State as the first composites hub in the national, IACMI-managed America’s Cutting Edge (ACE) program and highlights WSU’s commitment to enhancing workforce development, advancing community and student benefit, and supporting the revitalization of U.S. manufacturing.

This partnership will fund free, hands-on bootcamps that teach advanced skills in composites manufacturing and provide valuable opportunities for current Winona State students, alumni, and other area students. During 2025, bootcamps will be held June 2-6, July 7-11, and August 4-8.

David Murray, Founder of Statheros, which was recently acquired by Peerless Technologies Corporation (see teknovation.biz article here), has been named the Small Business Administration’s “Small Business Inventor of the Year” for the Volunteer State. He now serves as Vice President of the acquirer’s Development and Applications Group.

Just a year ago, Murray was the first runner-up in the 2024 PYA-sponsored Ballard Innovation Award. The fifth edition of that competition is Wednesday afternoon at Jewelry TV in West Knoxville. It’s not too late to register at this link.

From Nashville:

Van Tucker, who served for a little more than a year as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Launch Tennessee, passed away on March 28. She was 67, and no word on the cause of death has been announced. She died following a month-long stay at the Williamson Medical Center.

Tucker was the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Avenue Bank, and later served as CEO of Nashville Fashion Alliance before initially joining Launch Tennessee as Chief Operating Officer. She was a 1999 graduate (and later a board member) of Nashville’s Leadership Music program and a Founder and board member of the Americana Music Association, among many other board positions.

Among Tucker’s survivors are her husband of 17 years, Monty Holmes; sons Casey Spicer and Eamonn (Ami) Spicer; grandchildren Annalen Spicer, Oakley Spicer, Ripley Spicer, Alyse Spicer, and Charlotte Gibson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

From Washington, DC but with Oak Ridge Implications:

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced last week that it had made conditional commitments to provide high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) to five U.S. nuclear developers to meet their near-term fuel needs. This first round of HALEU allocations brings innovative American nuclear technologies one step closer to commercialization and will expand the use of nuclear energy to deliver more secure, affordable, and reliable energy to the American people.

Two of the five have plans for the Oak Ridge area. They are TRISO-X LLC and Kairos Power LLC.
