Two added to the Board of the Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative.

From Chattanooga:

Arkhive Digital, a Chattanooga-based female-founded Shopify enterprise agency, has received an investment of an undisclosed amount led by Bambu Ventures.

Founded by Helena Shannon who also serves as the agency’s Chief Executive Officer, Arkhive Digital provides enterprise-level strategy, implementation, and managed services for retailers leveraging Shopify Plus. Since its founding, the company has rapidly gained traction, securing a pipeline of enterprise clients and a strategic partnership with Shopify, a Fortune 500 eCommerce platform.

The investment will allow the company to scale its services, and expand its customer base.

From Nashville:

Axios Nashville reported in its Friday edition that Vanderbilt University Medical Center is preparing to reduce its budget by a whopping $250 million as a result of federal policy changes under the Trump administration.

“Some [research] programs will experience reductions — particularly those that cannot be fully supported on grants or the generous gifts from our donors,” said VUMC president and Chief Executive Officer Jeff Balser in what the publication described as a sobering video message to staffers on Wednesday. “And some people working in those programs will be unable to continue at VUMC.”

He added that VUMC will not cut back on its clinical enterprise, which delivers health care to people throughout the region. He stressed that the $250 million in reductions are “a conservative approach.”

From Murfreesboro:

The Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development announced that “GovCon25,” its annual conference, is set for November 4-5 at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro. Conference registration and hotel booking links are expected to go live in mid-May

Another from Chattanooga:

Dr. Rick Mukherjee, inaugural Director of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Quantum Center, and Charlie Brock, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative (CQC), have been appointed to the Collaborative’s Board of Directors. They join an existing group of founding board members that includes EPB President and CEO David Wade, who serves as board chair; former U.S. Sen. Bob Corker; and Chattanooga Mayor Tim Kelly.

The Chattanooga Quantum Collaborative was established to help prepare the region for the commercialization and use of quantum technology. Through partnerships across academia, government, and private industry, the organization supports quantum education, workforce development, and regional innovation.

From Oak Ridge:

ORAU has named Ashley Stowe as the company’s Chief Research and University Partnerships Officer. In his new role, he will work to strengthen ORAU’s research enterprise and drive innovation, and foster collaboration across ORAU’s 160-plus member university consortium.

Stowe has served as the Director of Y-12’s Oak Ridge Enhanced Technology and Training Center since 2021. He has a distinguished 18-year career at the Y-12 Nuclear Security Complex, including serving as the University Partnerships Program Manager, technology transfer lead, Consolidated Nuclear Security Engineering Internships Program Manager, Fellows Program Manager, and Director of Y-12’s Nuclear Forensics and Detection Division.

From Knoxville:

The Knoxville Technology Council is gathering enterprise architecture and tech infrastructure professionals from around the region from 5 to 7 p.m. EDT on April 2 for an event titled “East TN Tech Architecture: Getting a Seat at the Table.” As the title suggests, the focus involves both making new connections for attendees and discussing how to get a seat at the table for strategic planning discussions.

The event will be held at Bush Brothers & Company headquarters, 1016 Weisgarber Road. The discussion leader is Russell White, Director of Architecture at Clayton Homes. He will be joined by:

  1. Ron Grohman, Infrastructure and Security Manager at Bush Brothers;
  2. Brian Goulding, Enterprise Architect at the UT Medical Center; and
  3. Jared Meredith, Senior Manager of Enterprise Architecture and Compute Strategy at Pilot.

After the roundtable discussion, the attendees will head over to Abridged Beer Company for more networking with drinks and appetizers.
