News & Notes | Capital events scheduled in Chattanooga and Johnson City

Greater Nashville Technology Council invited teams and individuals to volunteer for its annual "Hack for the Community" event.

From Chattanooga:

  • The next Capital Conversations from Launch Tennessee and Pinnacle Financial Partners will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. August 6 at the Finley Stadium Ultra Club, 1826 Reggie White Boulevard. The event will feature Launch Tennessee’s capital team, along with financial sector experts from Pinnacle Financial and representatives from The Company Lab team. Pre-registration is required.   • LAUNCH Chattanooga has been honored, not once but twice, by the International Business Innovation Association. Focused on helping local entrepreneurs, the organization was honored with the “Entrepreneur Support Organization of the Year (Sector Award)” and the “Julius Morgan Diversity and Inclusion Award.”

From Johnson City:

FoundersForge is hosting an event for aspiring angel investors and start-up founders to help both navigate the angel investment process. Whether a person is new to the field or seeking to refine strategies, this event will provide valuable insights and opportunities on angel investing, the process of becoming a verified investor, and how to approach angel investors from a start-up perspective.

It will be held at 12 noon EDT on July 24 at Spark Plaza, 404 South Roan Street. There’s also a virtual option for individuals to participate. For more information and a link to registration, click here.

From Kingsport:

Brea Roberts has been named at the Director for the Appalachian Highlands Women’s Business Center, according to an article in the Kingsport Times-News. The center, also referred to as AppH-WBC, is one of only 17 new Women’s Business Centers across the country announced by the U.S. Small Business Administration. It will serve 10 counties in Northeast Tennessee, including Carter, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi and Washington.

From Nashville:

The Greater Nashville Technology Council has announced the dates of its annual “Hack for the Community” (H4tC) event. Scheduled for September 12 and 13, the two-day event is designed to bring together local experts to create tech solutions that benefit Middle Tennessee’s nonprofits. The Tech Council partners with local nonprofits that have tech needs and pairs them with the member companies who are best equipped to handle the problems and implement solutions.

From Memphis:

Epicenter has announced plans to offer the Kauffman FastTrac starting next month. It is a cohort-based, multi-week program that provides relevant content and tools to support the start, growth, and sustainability of early stage businesses. Running from August 5 to September 30, FastTrac offers entrepreneurs the space to test their idea or scale their current business. The cohort will be led by Mike Davis, Epicenter’s Entrepreneur Support Manager, and Kimberlee Deneice Richards, Founder of The Flourishing Agency.
