NC’s SBIR and STTR matching grants program now tilted toward rural communities
Our neighboring state to the east has retooled its “One NC Small Business Program” to target more funds to North Carolina’s 80 most distressed counties. What makes that particularly significant is the fact that the program is the state’s initiative to match awards that companies have received through the federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. As noted in this article, 24 emerging start-ups were just awarded $1.1 million in grants.
