Mixtroz selected for Birmingham’s Velocity Accelerator
Mixtroz, the Middle Tennessee-based start-up that is marketing a tool for event organizers to increase attendee engagement and guide networking opportunities, has been accepted into the Velocity Accelerator operated by Innovation Depot in Birmingham.
We first spotlighted the company in mid-2016 when it participated in CO.LAB’s “GIGTANK 365” accelerator. Over the holiday break, we caught-up with the mother and daughter team behind Mixtroz to learn more about their thinking about the opportunity.
“We were introduced to the Velocity Accelerator by Beth McKeon, Managing Entrepreneur in Residence at Velocity, after a collision (quite literally) with her during our exhibition at Collision Conference in NOLA last May,” Ashlee Ammons, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Mixtroz, said. “It was her passion throughout our conversation not only for diversity but more importantly inclusion that initially sparked our interest. As residents of the Southeast, we believe it is possible for success outside of ‘the Valley’ and partnering with a program built to scale can help Mixtroz to soar. We see Velocity as a key opportunity to expand our footprint within the Southeast.”
She said the start-up’s top three goals for 2018 are establishing reoccurring revenue, securing seed funding, and scaling our platform. “We believe that Velocity will be the catalyst to achieve all three,” Ammons explained.
