Life Science TN announces agenda for next month’s LSTCON event
The one-day conference features a keynote address by Seema Verma, a former administrator with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Life Science Tennessee (LST) has announced the agenda for LSTCON, its annual conference that will be held on November 8 at the Westin Hotel in Nashville.
The programming kicks off at 9 a.m. with a welcome followed by a keynote address by Seema Verma, General Manager and Senior Vice President at Oracle Corporation and a former administrator at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Her speech will be followed by two concurrent breakout sessions. One is focused on ways that Tennessee’s research institutions are creating initiatives to accelerate career preparedness and build a more diverse and sustainable talent pipeline, while the other will showcase the resources that make the Volunteer State one of the most diverse entrepreneurial support ecosystems in the country.
The morning programming wraps up with a session on how artificial intelligence and automation have transformed medicine.
After a networking luncheon, Dr. Alex Jahangir of Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) will be featured in a fireside chat. He is Vice President for Business Development, Vice Chair of Orthopedic Surgery, and Director of the Division of Orthopedic Trauma at VUMC.
The balance of the afternoon includes sessions on:
- Networking roundtables around five topics (medical devices, venture capital, pharmaceuticals, clinical trials, and agriculture biotech);
- An LST policy update; and
- Models from other states for biotech innovation.
LSTCON concludes with the annual “Venture Forum” where the winner will receive a cash prize of $10,000 cash, courtesy of Holland & Knight.
