Knoxville second most stressed major city in Tennessee

That's according to a study by WalletHub, the personal financial website.

Knoxville, ranked #57, is the second most stressed city in the State of Tennessee. That’s according to a recent ranking of 182 communities across the country from WalletHub, the personal financial website. Memphis, at #4, topped the rankings in the Volunteer State for most stressed. Chattanooga placed #91, followed by Nashville at #101.

To determine where Americans cope the best, WalletHub compared cities across 39 key metrics. The data set ranges from average weekly work hours to the unemployment rate to divorce and suicide rates.

Cleveland, OH is the most stressed city in the U.S., due in part to the fact that it has one of the lowest median household incomes in the country after adjusting for the cost of living, at under $41,000. Detroit has the second-most stressed residents in the country. One contributing factor is fact that Detroit has the highest unemployment rate in America, at 8.2 percent. It also has the lowest median household income after adjusting for the cost of living, at less than $37,000.
