He holds a master’s degree in manufacturing management from Kettering University (formerly General Motors Institute of Engineering and Management) and a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Tennessee Tech.

The other recipients included:

  • Corporate Leadership Award was presented to the Tennessee Valley Authority, which recognizes a company, governmental agency or entity that has shown sensitivity to diversity, employment trends and/or special program involvement and support of the Urban League and its mission. This year, the company was the presenting sponsor of Shoes for School, solidifying its commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Minority Business of the Year Award went to Centro Hispano de East TN in recognition of a minority-owned business that has made an economic and social impact on the community. President and Chief Executive Officer Claudia Caballero accepted the award on behalf of the company. Centro Hispano fosters empowerment and civic participation through community-strengthening initiatives, serving as the primary resource for East Tennessee’s Latino community and Latino-related matters.
  • Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Professor Joy Radice and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville College of Law Legal Clinic. The recognition salutes an individual or individuals who have made a significant impact on the programs and services of the Urban League and the community.
