Goldman Sachs announces $20 million for rural entrepreneurs

The funding is an extension of the global financial institution's 10,000 Small Businesses program.

Global financial giant Goldman Sachs is providing $20 million to Jackson, MS-based Hope Enterprise Corporation to support rural entrepreneurs across the South.

The funding, which is named the “Investment in Rural Communities” initiative, is an extension of the global financial institution’s 10,000 Small Businesses program. The expansion was announced recently at an event in Little Rock, AR.

Hope Enterprise Corporation is a community development financial institution (CDFI), associated with the U.S. Department of the Treasury to provide investments, services and technical assistance to underserved populations and communities.

Since 1994 the recipient of the funding has generated more than $3.6 billion in financing and related services to homeowners, entrepreneurs and nonprofits in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
