Digital divide will be spotlighted in two back-to-back events in Chattanooga

The Chattanooga story will be shared on July 22 before the State of Tennessee's "2024 Digital Opportunity Summit" the next day.

The day before the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development’s “2024 Digital Opportunity Summit,” The Enterprise Center in Chattanooga will host a pre-summit event titled “The Chattanooga Story: A Decade of Digital Opportunity Partnerships.” The back-to-back events are set for July 22 and 23 at venues around the city.

The Enterprise Center program runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. EDT on July 22 at two locations. The morning session through lunch will be held at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center and Chattanooga African American Museum, 200 E. Martin Luther King Boulevard, with the afternoon programming shifting to The Edney Innovation Center, 1100 Market Street, before a reception starting at 4:30 p.m. EDT back at where the day’s events started.

Among the topics being covered are:

  • The HCS EdConnect initiative, powered by EPB, a first-of-its-kind effort to bridge the digital divide and provide home WiFi to every qualified family — all year long, until at least 2030.
  • Quality of Life: From Cradle to Aging-in-Place.
  • Digital Opportunity in the Entrepreneurial Ecosystem.
  • Partnerships Supporting Connected Rural Communities.
  • Digital Skills for Workforce Development.

The “Digital Opportunity Summit” will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT on July 23 at the Chattanooga Convention Center. Session topics include:

  • Leveraging Partnerships to Achieve Digital Opportunity.
  • Workforce Development in the Digital Age.
  • Closing the Digital Divide in Rural Tennessee.
  • Entrepreneurship and Navigating the Digital Economy.

Registration for the July 22 program is $30 per person, while the July 23 Summit has varying registration fees depending on a registrant’s employer.
