Boulder venture fund ranks Knoxville as #16 cleantech hub in country
A Boulder-based venture fund has the Knoxville-Oak Ridge region on its map, and we’re not talking about Techstars.
Saoradh Enterprise Partners (SEP), a research and venture capital firm, has ranked the 40 strongest clean tech ecosystems in the U.S., and this region comes in at #16. For the inaugural report, SEP ranked the hubs by the strength of their cleantech ecosystems. “We characterize the strength of each hub with curated datasets grouped by research funding and results, technology development, venture development, and other metrics,” the company explains.
Not surprising, the Bay Area, Boston and New York capture the top three rankings respectively. Only three other communities are ranked in the Southeast or nearby. Atlanta comes in at #10, Research Triangle at #11, and Blacksburg is #40.
SEP has posted a whitepaper that can be downloaded at this link.
