Birmingham Regional for Startup World Cup is September 4

Ten finalists selected, with one getting its ticket punched for a chance to win a $1 million investment prize.

Out of a large pool of applicants, a selection committee has chosen 10 start-ups to compete in the Birmingham Regional for the Startup World Cup set for October 4 at the Hilton Union Square in San Francisco, CA.

On September 4 at Innovation Depot in Downtown Birmingham, one of the competitors will get its ticket punched to attend the finals where it will compete with other winners for the $1 million investment prize. Birmingham is the closest city that is hosting a regional event.

The competitors are:

  1. Accelerate Wind (Erika Boeing): Designing roof-edge wind turbines to help buildings meet renewable energy goals affordably.
  2. Adravision (Hadem Fesharaki): Enhancing dental care with artificial intelligence (AI) software for improved clinical performance and patient experience.
  3. Cerebro Neurotech (Paolo Alejandro Catila): Developing AI software for early detection of brain injuries and neurocognitive diseases.
  4. CModel (Teasha Cable): An AI-powered platform for creating and adjusting business strategies in real-time.
  5. Ecobrew (Brian Henderson): Helping breweries capture and reuse their own CO2, cutting costs and boosting sustainability.
  6. Equip (Trent Kocurek): Streamlining support for caregivers of individuals with developmental disabilities.
  7. Ethar (Tony Hodgson): Enabling businesses to easily create augmented reality experiences for customer engagement.
  8. Shipshape Urban Farms (Dale and Angela Speetjens): Tackling food security with smart, modular vertical farming systems.
  9. Tempo (Anirudh Aditya): A video platform for bite-sized learning through user-generated guides and communities.
  10. Tricorder Array Technologies (Robby Tindal): Creating the first AI-powered device for monitoring animal health.
