Beehive Industries doubling space and workforce in Ohio

The company has a facility in West Knoxville and does its R&D, engineering, and engine testing operations in Cincinnati.

When Beehive Industries opened a new 60,000-square-foot facility in West Knoxville in early May that expanded its existing space locally by a 12X factor, officials noted that the company was on pace to more than quadruple its footprint.

That would call for expanding from approximately 40,000 square feet less than six months ago to almost 170,000 square feet by the end of 2024, and it is well on its way with a recent announcement in the Cincinnati region.

Denver-based Beehive Industries, which has three other locations across two states, just leased 30,000 square feet at 422 Wards Corner in Miami Township, OH. That is a doubling of its office space as the company prepares to double its workforce from about 35 of its 200 employees located in the Cincinnati area.

The workforce includes those doing research and development, engineering, and engine testing operations.

The company recently won a $12.46 million contract from the U.S. Air Force to advance its production of 3D-printed jet engines (see teknovation.biz article here). The contract is to develop a 200 lb. thrust class engine using additive manufacturing methods. The funding covers the cost of manufacturing, testing, and demonstrating the scalability of this technology.

Through the contract, Beehive Industries is tasked with manufacturing 30 engines in 24 months, with much of the work being done in the Knoxville facility.
