Applications for Birmingham competition now being accepted
The Magic City is one of more than 75 locations across six continents hosting preliminaries.
It’s a tight deadline, but for a chance at a million dollars, putting in some extra hours on an application might be worth it.
The Innovation Depot in Birmingham announced the application deadline for the Startup World Cup regional pitch competition that it is hosting is August 14. As previously noted in teknovation.biz, the Magic City, one of its nicknames, is one of more than 75 cities across six continents to host a regional event. Others include Baton Rouge, LA which has already hosted a regional event, and Virginia Beach, VA that will do so on August 28.
The start-up winning the Birmingham competition that will be held September 4 at Innovation Depot, will punch its ticket to the international event exactly a month later. Hosted by Pegasus Tech Ventures, the grand finale is set for October 4 at the Hilton Union Square in San Francisco, CA.
The winner of the Birmingham event – open to anyone, not just those from Alabama – will receive a $5,000 cash prize to help with expenses.
