Anderson Center planning a Venture Fair for April

The event will enable UTK entrepreneurs (students and alumni) to selling their products or services and show off their businesses in a real marketplace setting.

The Anderson Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), in partnership with Knoxville Entrepreneur Center, is hosting the first-ever Venture Fair on April 24 on Market Square.

Described by Breanna Hale, the new Executive Director of the Anderson Center, as the place “where creativity meets commerce,” the four-hour event is not a typical demo day. Instead, it is a bustling marketplace where UTK entrepreneurs (students and alumni) shine, selling their products or services and showing off their businesses in a real marketplace setting.

“Picture a vibrant hub buzzing with energy, where talented minds display and sell their products and services for all to see,” Hale says, adding that it is a unique chance to explore an array of businesses birthed at the University. “From cutting-edge tech to artisanal crafts, there’s something for everyone.”

The event draws inspiration from the weekly Farmers’ Market on Saturdays during the spring, summer and early fall where artisans and farmers sell their products. But, Hale adds that what sets Venture Fair apart is the fact that it’s not just about browsing – it’s about participation. And, in the spirit of a competition, one lucky vendor will walk away with the coveted $1,000 prize.

Applications are open through April 10 at this link.
