iO Urology names industry veteran as Chair of its board
Tyler Binney recently sold a business to Boston Scientific for an upfront payment of $850 million plus performance based earnouts.
iO Urology, a private medical device company revolutionizing urologic care through home-based diagnostics and management, has announced the appointment of Tyler Binney as Chair of the company’s Board of Directors.
He joins iO Urology’s board with a strong track record of driving innovation and growth through strategic vision and operational expertise, includinh more than 20 years in the medical device industry. Binney currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Relievant Medsystems Inc., which was acquired by Boston Scientific in November 2023 for an upfront payment of $850 million plus performance based earnouts. Previously, he served as President and General Manager of Interventional Urology at Teleflex, where he played a key role in the $1.1 billion acquisition of NeoTract Inc. in 2017.

iO Urology won the PYA-sponsored Ballard Innovation Award in 2023 and a year later raised $19.4 million in a Series A funding round led by Solas BioVentures of Chattanooga, two urologic strategic organizations, Launch Tennessee, and Jumpstart Capital. The company’s core product is developed CarePath®, an at-home, handheld uroflow device that is Food and Drug Administration-approved and has been utilized in multiple urology clinics in the U.S.
