Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development leaves for Harvard role
During Alejandra Y. Castillo's tenure, EDA deployed nearly $8 billion in grants.
A familiar name has left the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA).
Alejandra Y. Castillo, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Economic Development, left the agency after three years to join the Institute of Politics at the Harvard Kennedy School as a Resident Fellow. During her three years with EDA, she guided the agency through tremendous growth and development, leading EDA through the deployment of nearly $8 billion in economic development support across America – generating more than $80 billion in private investments and creating and retaining nearly 800,000 jobs.
In a LinkedIn post, Castillo wrote, ” I leave the Biden Administration with great pride of the transformational investments made in communities across the U.S. I now start a new chapter of my career with an opportunity to share my insights and experience with students and support their journey into public service. Excited to be an Institute of Politics at Harvard Kennedy School Fellow-in-Residence tackling the issues impacting us today.”
No word on her successor.
