Sales Geek is launching in the South, and Jerry Ewalt is leading the charge

With Sales Geek, you hire a sales leader when you need one, scaled to the level you need for your business.

Jerry Ewalt lives his life on a mission.

He is on a mission to serve the Lord, on a mission to be present with his family, and on a mission to give back to the business sector.

His latest mission combines all three and allows him to share this mission with others – Ewalt purchased a master franchise for the brand Sales Geek, a sales leadership company that is changing the way the world views sales.  Being the business leader for the South, he is looking to recruit and train others to do the same as Sales Geeks across Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, and Kentucky.

Many people in the United States may not be familiar with this brand since it originated in the United Kingdom; however, Ewalt said it’s a new, innovative way of doing business.

“Think about how with Uber, you can pay for the car you need when you need it,” Ewalt said drawing a parallel to Sales Geek. “We do the same thing; you hire a sales leader when you need one, scaled to the level you need for your business.”

It’s different from consulting because you get an experienced sales leader at a fraction of the cost of a full-time employee.  We roll up our sleeves and get the work, not just tell you what you should be doing.

Ewalt spent 25 years in Corporate America, holding several roles and executive leadership titles. He has worked for Fortune 500 companies like GE Healthcare, Johnson & Johnson, and Philips.   He has also worked with various ministries and non-profits.  What he’s learned from those experiences is how to be a “servant leader,” to give back to the community by mentoring others, and to bring world-class sales leadership to companies in need, regardless of industry.

Additionally, during that time, Ewalt also spent seven and a half years studying in seminary at Moody Bible Institute of Chicago. That experience no doubt influenced how he approached business, people, and relationships.

Ewalt said Sales Geek is the perfect culmination of his skillset because it combines leadership with sales expertise and creates a platform to give back to the community.

“Many local businesses are trying to make it but they don’t understand how to scale and grow.,” Ewalt said.

That’s where Ewalt, also known as the “Chief Geek” comes in. Through Sales Geek, he can become a part-time sales leader for any small-to-medium-sized business. Meaning, that he could help the company once per week, once a month, or on an as-needed basis.

“It’s a win for the company because they’re only paying for what they need. It’s a win for me because I can have the work-life balance I couldn’t get in the corporate sector. Plus, I will have more time to spend with my wife and four kids while also giving back to the community,” he said.

Right now, he is focused on establishing the business in his home community of Knoxville; however, over the next few years, he plans to hire many more sales-oriented leaders who can expand the business into other parts of the South.

Ewalt said the Sales Geek model is perfectly suited to help the local business community.  The combination of a Sales Geek’s business experience and the Sales Geek framework allows for a tailored model for each business’s unique needs.  Sales Geeks have access to over a thousand years experience of in sales leadership in various markets around the world.  If there is a business challenge that I have not encountered, I have access to someone who has.  Sales Geeks are always learning and are always there to help each other with their clients.

In addition to serving as part-time sales leaders, Sales Geek representatives can also offer businesses sales training and sales mentoring, to help get new sales departments off the ground.

Ewalt’s Sales Geek franchise is among the first in the U.S., there are nine other franchise owners on this side of the Atlantic. Around the world, there are about 100 with the base of operations in the U.K..

“The opportunity is great right now.  We have so many companies needing help to grow their revenue.  We also see more and more entrepreneurs entering the market needing help commercializing their ideas.  This is where Sales Geek can make a real difference.,” he said.

Ewalt has lived in several robust business economies – including Southern California, Florida, and Chicago. He shared about moving his family across the country several times to pursue pivotal career moves. His previous move was to the Chicagoland area, but it wasn’t a long-term fit.

They were looking for freedom, faith, and a good school district for our youngest.

“My family always wanted to move south. We love Tennessee. “Plus it’s a great central location for the whole family – with extended family in Illinois, a child at Clemson, one at the University of Florida, and one at Embry Riddle.  We are confident that our fourth child currently a Freshman at Farragut will make the right decision after graduation and go to UT!”

Ewalt also noted the business climate in Tennessee is friendly, welcoming, and growing fast. He shared that he is thankful to be a part of that growth, eager to get plugged in, and believes Knoxville is the right place to do it.
