News & Notes | City of Knoxville wins Department of Energy grant

The Greater Nashville Venture Capital Association expands its board.

From Knoxville:

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced its latest round of awards under the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program, and the City of Knoxville is one of the winners.

According to the announcement last week, the program will distribute $12.62 million to 32 local governments, two states, and one Tribeto improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and lower overall energy use. Funding comes from the “Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.” Knoxville’s allocation is $239,720.

The Greater Nashville Venture Capital Association (GNVCA), a new industry association dedicated to foster and grow the region’s venture capital investment ecosystem, has announced the appointment of three leading venture capitalists to its board of directors. They are:

They join existing board members Bruce Evans, President of Evans Capital and Chair of the board; Anders Hall, Vice Chancellor for
Investments and Chief Investment Officer at Vanderbilt University; Hunter Hillenmeyer, Investment Partner with Company Ventures; Padma Raghavan, Vice Provost for Research and Innovation at Vanderbilt; and Marcus Whitney, Co-Founder and Partner with Jumpstart Health Investors.

Life Science Tennessee’s final two “Beer & Biotech” events will be held this month in Johnson City and Chattanooga.
