TVA, KUB partner to award a quarter million dollars to nonprofits
The two organizations will give $264,000 to local nonprofits.
In a concerted effort to support the community, Knoxville Utilities Board (KUB) has announced a partnership with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) aimed at doubling the financial assistance available to local nonprofit organizations through TVA’s Community Care Fund.
With an initial allocation of $132,000 from TVA’s Community Care Fund specifically designated for Knoxville-area organizations, KUB’s commitment to match this sum will effectively elevate the total available funding to an impressive $264,000.
Gabriel Bolas II the President and Chief Executive Officer of KUB, expressed enthusiasm about the collaborative initiative.
“The Community Care Fund supported 20 different local nonprofit organizations in 2023, and it’s been great to see how that support has helped our community,” he said. “We’re thrilled to be able to invest in local nonprofits again. We are proud to partner with TVA and appreciate their commitment to serving our customers in this way. This is a great opportunity for us to contribute to making our region a better place to live by contributing to each organization’s efforts.”
The application process for accessing this funding is straightforward but stringent, reflecting the organizations’ shared commitment to ensuring maximum impact and accountability. To be eligible for consideration, organizations must meet the following criteria:
- 501(c)(3) Classification: Applicants must have been active and classified as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for a minimum of 12 months, ensuring a proven track record of commitment and stability in their operations.
- Focus Areas: Organizations must demonstrate alignment with one or more of the following areas of assistance:
- Education: Initiatives aimed at fostering learning opportunities and academic advancement.
- Diversity & Inclusion: Efforts dedicated to promoting equitable representation and inclusion within the community.
- Health, Hunger, & Housing: Programs addressing healthcare accessibility, food insecurity, and housing stability.
- Workforce Development & Training: Activities focused on enhancing job readiness and skill-building for economic empowerment.
- Community Enrichment: Projects enhancing the overall well-being and quality of life within the community.
By adhering to these guidelines, KUB and TVA aim to ensure that the allocated funds are channeled toward initiatives that address critical needs and foster long-term community resilience and prosperity.
