“Start Here Pitch Competition” accepting applications

The deadline to apply for the chance to win $10,000 is November 1. The event is set for November 15 in Cookeville.

The Biz Foundry has announced that the Upper Cumberland region’s entrepreneur center is again partnering with the Highlands Economic Partnership and Tennessee Center for Rural Innovation at Tennessee Tech University to host the 2023 “Start Here Pitch Competition.”

To be held November 15 during Global Entrepreneurship Week, the event seeks local, regional, and even national start-ups looking to start here in the Upper Cumberland region. They will be competing for a chance to win a grand prize of $10,000 and an opportunity to pitch to the Upper Cumberland Angel Investors Fund.

The “Start Here Pitch Competition” is open to entrepreneurs in the concept or start-up phase who meet the following requirements:

  • Must plan on growing to $1 million plus in revenue or add $1 million plus in revenue within three years;
  • Must plan to grow to more than five employees or add more than five employees within three years;
  • Must serve a regional or national market;
  • Must have some lineage to the Upper Cumberland region (i.e., started there, will start there, interested in starting there, or interested in relocating to the Upper Cumberland Region); and
  • Must have less than 50 employees.

The deadline to apply is November 1. The event itself begins at 5:30 p.m. CST on November 15 at 37 Cedar Restaurant & Bar in Cookeville. To register to attend, click here.
