TN ranks third among “America’s Top States for Business”
The Volunteer State is just behind two neighbors - North Carolina and Virginia.
Business news network CNBC recently issued its annual ranking of “America’s Top States for Business,” and Tennessee placed #3 overall, behind North Carolina and Virginia.
According to CNBC, it scored all 50 states on 86 metrics in 10 broad categories of competitiveness. Each category is weighted based on how frequently states use them as a selling point in economic development marketing materials. That way, the study ranks the states based on the attributes they use to sell themselves. CNBC developed its criteria and metrics in consultation with a diverse array of business and policy experts, and the states.
So, how did the Volunteer State rank in various categories?
It ranked #9 for workforce; #3 for infrastructure; #5 for the economy; #43 for life, health, and inclusion, #7 for cost of doing business, and #27 for technology and innovation.
