The U.S. Department of Energy has provided a useful set of resources to learn more about the history of the Manhattan Project.
There’s a buzz around Oak Ridge and, for that matter, around the nation for the Oppenheimer film about J. Robert Oppenheimer, an American theoretical physicist who was pivotal in developing the first nuclear weapons as part of the Manhattan Project, and thereby ushering in the Atomic Age.
The movie came in at #2 at the box office the weekend of July 21-23 and, at last report, had grossed $174 million at the domestic box office and $400 million at the global box office in ticket sales, according to Variety, behind only Barbie as a summer blowout success.
If you are not as stepped in Manhattan Project history as others, the U.S. Department of Energy has provided a useful set of resources to help you. They can be accessed here.
