Initiative announced to bring 10,000 women into venture investing

The San Francisco-based organization is leading the effort to overcome the fact that only 2.1 percent of venture funding in 2022 went to women-founded companies.

We missed this announcement from June, but it is something very timely even a month or so later.

How Women Lead, the network of 20,000 corporate leaders driving women’s representation in positions of power, influence, and wealth, has unveiled a campaign to inspire women to invest in venture capital funds that invest in women founders. Titled “The New Table Campaign,” it is designed to overcome the fact that only 2.1 percent of venture funding in 2022 went to women-founded companies. That number is unchanged after a decade of data tracking outsized returns by women founders and the new entrants to venture, women fund managers.

How Women Lead decided to take matters into its own hands and activate women’s wealth and influence to change the landscape. The New Table campaign’s goal is to bring 10,000 women into venture capital investing to close the large funding gap for companies founded by women.

In tandem with the launch of The New Table campaign, How Women Lead is debuting its proprietary searchable index of women-led venture capitalists for women who take the pledge to join The New Table. This values-based investing tool is described as the first of its kind to sort and find women-led venture capital firms based on specific values, minimum investment amounts, investment stages, or industry sectors.

Gaining a seat at The New Table starts with a pledge. Women interested in venture investing can sign up at this link and pledge to invest within 12 months.
