Hospital administrator named head of West Virginia University Innovation Corporation
The former Chief Operating Officer of Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, part of OhioHealth, has been named President of the West Virginia University Innovation Corporation. The appointment was announced by West Virginia University (WVU) and the WVU Health System.
Stacey Armstrong will assume her new role on May 9. The announcement of her appointment comes after the Innovation Center took ownership of the former Mylan and Viatris pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Morgantown.
The facility will be transformed into a hub of private business activity that will harness research, create jobs, and lead to the development of goods and services that will benefit the people of West Virginia. Discussions with potential tenants to lease space within the 1.1 million square foot facility are ongoing. The manufacturing plant closed in 2021 after 55 years of operation. More than 1,400 workers were affected.
WVU is led by former Vanderbilt Chancellor Gordon Gee. He was also President of The Ohio State University. To learn more about the plans for the massive site, click here.
