UC employing several different tools to accelerate university-based start-ups
The University of Cincinnati (UC) reports that it has made major strides in its efforts to get more campus-bred, early stage start-ups off the ground.
From pre-2018 when it was only producing about one to two such ventures each year, the institution’s Venture Lab, a three-year old pre-accelerator program has graduated its 50th start-up with the conclusion of its most recent cohort. In addition to the program, UC’s new intellectual property policy has served as a model for the “Ohio IP Promise,” and that provides a clearer understanding of and path to commercialization for faculty and students.
