New EV manufacturer to open shop in Rock Hill, SC
A start-up developer of electric transit vehicles will establish its first U.S. facility in Upstate South Carolina. The company, named Arrival, said it would invest $46 million in the “microfactory” in Rock Hill, SC.
Officials said the plant’s “cell-based” assembly method and in-house components, materials, and software — unlike a conventional automotive production line — would allow Arrival workers to produce any of the company’s vehicles. While the start-up offers both a bus and van with modular architectures, the Rock Hill site will initially focus on the electric bus.
