LEEP initiative coming to New Mexico with EDA funding
We have come to associate the term “Laboratory Embedded Entrepreneurship Program” (LEEP) with the “Innovation Crossroad” initiative at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and two similar programs at Lawrence Berkeley and Argonne National Laboratories. All three involve funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).
According to this article, the U.S. Economic Development Administration is providing $600,000 to the Los Alamos Commerce and Development Corporation to launch a LEEP initiative in New Mexico. It will reportedly involve both Sandia and Los Alamos National Labs and a local community college.
Details are still being worked-out, but the program will apparently support five entrepreneurs, similar to the DOE LEEP initiative.
