Chattanooga’s Jayesh Doshi shares his efforts to provide PPP during latest UT CIS virtual event

Jayesh Doshi, Founder of eSpin Technologies Inc. in Chattanooga, expanded on his experience producing PPP (personal protective equipment) that we cited in this recent article during another Zoom-delivered event hosted yesterday by the University of Tennessee’s Center for Industrial Services (UT CIS).

“Our biggest challenge is finding people,” he told the roughly 40 individuals who viewed the one-hour session. Doshi noted his company had ramped-up production of disposable surgical masks and, in doing so, was constrained by finding sufficient people to staff second, third and weekend shifts.

“We are producing 9,500 masks a shift,” Doshi said. With equipment that will be forthcoming in about a week as a result of a partnership with Volkswagen, he expects to be able to ramp-up to 60,000 masks a day.

The Zoom meeting was the latest in a series that UT CIS has been hosting to help manufacturers better understand challenges and opportunities related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Tuesday event also featured advice from Walter Idol, UT CIS Health and Safety Program Manager, about actions that manufacturers should take in the event of a worker testing positive for COVID-19 or being placed under investigation.
