Kansas global engineering firm launches “IgniteX COVID-19 Response Accelerator”
An Overland Park, KS-based company hopes to combine its worldwide engineering expertise with ideas from innovators running start-ups to develop solutions to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
To achieve that goal, Black & Veatch has launched an incubator it calls the “IgniteX COVID-19 Response Accelerator.” The company has also set aside at least $250,000 in grants and staff time to foster the ideas of start-ups and help bring those ideas to market. Black & Veatch is asking entrepreneurs with ideas on topics such as telehealth, testing and screening for COVID-19, building temporary hospitals, and new ways to disinfect and reuse personal protective equipment to apply for the chance to collaborate with the engineering firm.
