SCRA announces new grants for South Carolina start-ups, new participants in SC Launch
The South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA), the Palmetto State’s agency responsible for promoting the innovation economy which we spotlighted last year in a teknovation.biz series (Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3), recently made a series of announcements.
- Three client companies have been accepted into SC Launch, SCRA’s entrepreneurial support program. The companies will receive mentoring and grants and may be eligible for investments from SC Launch Inc., a separately chartered entity that provides loans and investments to selected South Carolina-based companies.
- A start-up based on Johns Island received a $25,000 grant from SCRA’s Academic Start-up Assistance Program which is designed to assist for-profit companies sponsored by an academic institution.
- Three other companies shared a total of $125,000 under SCRA’s Acceleration Grants program. These grants are competitively awarded to South Carolina-based, for-profit companies to progress the company towards commercialization and better position the company for an SC Launch Inc. investment.
