Kentucky is one of five states creating NIH-funded “proof of concept” hubs

A four-year grant from the National Institutes of Health will help fund a public-private consortium that will ultimately help create start-ups that commercialize promising biomedical research innovations. Think of the effort as “proof of concept” centers.

Under the $4 million in federal funding matched by $2.65 in other monies, the Kentucky Network for Innovation & Commercialization (KYNETIC) will link the state’s eight public universities and the Kentucky Community and Technical College System with one goal: bring to market new pharmaceuticals, therapies, devices and other health-related technologies.
