ORNL’s next “Technology Innovation Showcase” set for October 17, features eight inventions
Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has scheduled its next “Technology Innovation Showcase” for October 17.
“The showcase will highlight some of ORNL’s most promising technologies,” said Mike Paulus, Director of Technology Transfer. “We are looking forward to showing the community what our researchers have been able to achieve and to exploring opportunities for commercialization with potential industry partners.”
The event, which is offered periodically, will feature technical presentations in the morning, a lunchtime networking event, and opportunities for research laboratory tours and one-on-one business discussions in the afternoon. The showcase is open to the public, but pre-registration is required (click here), and seating is limited.
Eight technologies will be spotlighted:
- CellSight — Rapid, Native Single Cell Mass Spectrometry [technology summary, video]
- Nanocapsular Radiation Track Etch Indicator [technology summary, video]
- Rapid Regeneration of Recalcitrant Plant Species [technology summary, video]
- BEST: Biomacromolecule Engineering by Soft Chain Coupling Technology [technology summary, video]
- Genetic Improvement of Salt and Drought Tolerance in Crop Plants [technology summary, video]
- Commercialization of AlCuMnZr (ACMZ) Alloys [technology summary, video]
- Safe Impact Resistant Electrolytes (SAFIRE) [technology summary, video]
- Novel Catalyst for Low Temperature Emissions Control [technology summary]
Paulus said ORNL has invested approximately $1.5 million to prepare these technologies for commercialization under the ORNL Technology Innovation Program. Additional funding may be available for further development in collaboration with a commercial partner.
“We are targeting people from companies ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100s who are interested in learning more about the featured technologies and possibly collaborating with ORNL to commercialize the technologies,” Paulus added.
