Blue returns to ORNL, Dods assumes IACMI CEO post
The founding Chief Executive Officer of the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI) is returning to Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and his successor is a well-respected manufacturing executive.
Craig Blue, a long-time ORNL researcher who helped lead the effort to capture the IACMI win, told us last week that he would be rejoining the lab in a new position as Director of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. The portfolio of work is more than $100 million a year.
His successor, who starts today, is Bryan Dods, a former Chief Engineer of Manufacturing at GE Power. In that role, he was responsible for overall product manufacturability, manufacturing technology, and strategic planning. Dods’ role also involved serving as GE Power’s focal point for advanced manufacturing.
“Bryan Dods’ work and research in manufacturing perfectly aligns with our mission to partner with industry, universities and national laboratories to drive the future of composites manufacturing on a commercial level,” said Taylor Eighmy, Chair of the IACMI Board of Directors and University of Tennessee, Knoxville Vice Chancellor of Research and Engagement.
