Protomet dedicates expanded facility, celebrates manufacturing in U.S.
It’s always good to see a company profiled on teknovation.biz make a positive announcement, and that is exactly what happened in Oak Ridge yesterday morning. Protomet, spotlighted in a March 2013 post, cut the ribbon on a previously announced expansion to more than double its size. The 21,500 sq. ft. addition houses a $1 million finishing line.
At the time the expansion was announced, Jeff Bohanan, Protomet Chief Executive Officer, pegged the price tag on the investment at $6.25 million and said company would add 30 new jobs. During yesterday’s event, he said that “most of the investment will be in place by June, and we’re one-third of the way on the new jobs.”
Bohanan also talked about the importance of domestic manufacturing and the ability to link design with production. Here’s a link to the Knoxville News Sentinel article on the April 29 celebration.
