Local Motors to deliver first 3D car in September with ORNL help
It was a good news week for the world-leading Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF) operated by Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). On Monday, the lab and Cincinnati Incorporated executed a major Cooperative Research and Development Agreement.
On Thursday, Local Motors, which had recently signed an agreement with ORNL, announced that it will build and deliver the first direct digital manufactured vehicle at the International Manufacturing Technology Show, set for September 8-13. The company’s ability to deliver on its promise relies on expertise housed in ORNL’s MDF.
